Android Ice Cream OS mention in MWC 2011


At recent Mobile Congress Google gives audience a hint for their next version of operating system and expected to introduce in public late this year.The next OS will be named Ice Cream optimized for both android smartphones and tablets, back to Gingerbread 2.3 it has improved user interface better internet connectivity such as internet telephony. New hardware added support for barometer sensors, NFC (near field comm.) use for credit card patments and gyroscope,

According to Google CEO Eric Schmidt speaks at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona

“Today I'll use the commonly used names. We have OS called gingerbread for phones, we have an OS being previewed now for tablets called Honeycomb,”

“The two of them... you can imagine the follow up will start with an I, be named after dessert, and will combine these two.”

Estimated more than 100 phones and tablets are running in Android operating system and activations of more than 300,000 per day, follow up planned of updating new version of Android OS fo every six months intended for both Android smartphone and Android tablets.

Mr Schmidt added that Google sees Microsoft as their main opponents in todays rivalry in the world of mobile handset.They also hope that NFC technology will  standardized immediately as Europe is now addressing minor issues concerning NFC technology,on allowing  transfer of payment information on Android phones

Mr Schmidt also quoted “What's most important about this future is it is a future for the masses, not the elites,” im not sure if hes reffering to Apple guys.what do you think?
