New Android 3.0 Tablet From Sony Expected To Arrive This Summer In U.S

Japan’s leading business daily The Nikkei reported some vague news today about a new Android tablet Sony is allegedly planning. According to the article which has now been deleted over the newspaper’s Japanese website, Sony CEO Howard Stringer has said that his company is going to launch an Android 3.0 tablet “this summer”.

Stringer was also quoted as saying that the Android Honeycomb device will hit the US, the biggest market for tablets, first the image above shows the Sony Dash.

Japanese tech information site AV Watch has followed up [JP] from the meantime: it just published an official declaration from a Sony spokesperson who claims the android tablet will launch “by year-end” and that further details will follow “sometime later”.

It seems like the Nikkei news item is more considerable than the one with the Wall Street Journal we reported on in March 2010.
