Last february HTC revealed that HTC Desire HD, Desire Z, Desire and Incredible S will get an update for Gingerbread. And now the revelations has just started with the HTC Desire HD and Incredible S Gingerbread Update OTA. So for folks owning any of the above listed devices and at the same time having a active data connection by now, then you are entitled to receive the notification of FOTA, if you didn't you may go manual checking of the update simply by going to setting button> scroll down to about phone, hit and check for update. Please note that the update file is about 100MB.
So before proceeding with the update make sure your smart phone is fully charge and dont forget to backup your important data. It is also recommended to apply the update through WiFi connection compared to 3G that consumes large data and it cost you a lot, once done in updating you may confirm a successful update by checking the Build number, From the Home Screen go to MENU> Settings> About Phone> Software Information> Software number. If done successfully the build number will show as 2.36.405.5. Android 2.3 upgrade. Thats it you may now taste the Gingerbread a.k.a Android 2.3.3.
In addition the two above devices Desire Z and Desire S are expected to receive the Gingerbread update soon.
