According to source it is estimated to more than 50 free Android apps have been infected this week and some of these apps might look suspicious while others carrying names like "Quick Notes" or "Chess" looks clean enough and you would not hesitate to download them.
So here it goes to help you keep your Android devices free of malware;
1. As much as possible research the publisher of the app, Check other apps does it offer? Is any of them seems to be unclear. If so, you should better stay away.
2. Check the net to find out what reputable Websites are saying about the app before you tick the download button. Read online reviews Android Market reviews may not always be accurate.
3. Everytime you download or update an app, you opted list permissions for it. Do check app permissions always. An alarm clock app, for example you dont need to look through your contacts. So remember if an app is asking for more than what it needs to be able to download, you should skip it.
4. Beware of Android Package files (APKs) this apps could get it only through a third party or others called it "sideloading," or installing apps using an .APK file, although not all APK files are not infected by malware, still it is highly advisable not to download and install .APK files especially some of it are unknown file contains until you install it and by then it's too late for you to kno.
5. The most important one is put and do regular run of malware and antivirus scanner on your android smartphone. Some of you may not a fan of antivirus scanners but malware outbreaks like this will surely change your minds.

One of the leading Mobile Security "Lookout" posted on their blog a list of infected Android applications, total of 56 apps have been infected with DroidDream, a new breed of Android malware that roots your phone and accumulate access to as much personal information as it can. The apps can also open a backdoor, giving more executable code to download to your phone without your knowing it.
Some of these apps have been already installed estimated to 50,000 users, being considered as the most widespread cases of Android malware to date. Suspected apps are already pulled out from the Android Market. Thus Google is now investigating them and users phone has not yet moved to wipe them incidentally.
Futhermore Lookout issued an update to its mobile security software. For those of you been already using it they advise you to run its malware scanner and e-mail the Lookout support center Mashable posted a list of infected apps complied by Myournet advised returning your Android phone to your carrier, as your data and security may be at risk.
